A study from the University of Virginia has found that individuals with higher intelligence find small talk mentally exhausting.

According to research, people with an IQ above 120 are 67% more likely to feel tired after more than ten minutes of casual conversation. The data shows that highly intelligent people tend to prefer deep discussions about ideas and philosophy, rather than casual exchanges of words.

Although the study acknowledges that short conversations help create social connections, it suggests that meaningful dialogues remain the preferred form of communication for people with high intelligence.
