Shakira wins legal battle with Spanish authorities! She will be compensated with 60 million euros

Singer Shakira won a landmark trial in Spain over her 2011 taxes.
Spanish authorities accused her of living in Spain for more than 183 days during that year and therefore having to pay taxes as a resident there. But the court said there was insufficient evidence for this.
According to the court, Shakira had spent most of the year outside Spain because she was busy with concerts and international tours.
For this reason: the court annulled the fines against her, and Spain can return over 60 million euros that include payments, penalties and interest.
Shakira stated that she did not commit fraud and that she has been treated unfairly for years.
This matter only concerns 2011 and does not change the agreement she made in 2023 for other tax problems for the years 2012-2014, where she paid a fine to avoid prison.
The decision can still be appealed to Spain's Supreme Court.
