Veliaj, from the new school "Xezmi Delli": We will rebuild 10 more

At the start of the new school year, another school, rebuilt with modern conditions, opened its doors to its 350 students. The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, accompanied by the SP deputy, Klotilda Ferhati, closely inspected the new school and congratulated the students for the new school year.

"Every time a big municipal project starts in the city, hysteria erupts that they will build a palace here. We accept that charge because we have really made a palace - a palace for students. I had never seen a school with air conditioning in America, not in Albania. With LED lighting, with an elevator with a 'chip' for people with different abilities, with a special teacher, with a preschool, with all the conditions and sports grounds. This used to be a school in an emergency, with no emergency stairs. Today we have emergency stairs and we have a European level school, with exceptional standards. I'm really proud of that! Today we went to 45 new schools", said Veliaj.

The Mayor added that so many schools have never been built in Tirana. "True independence comes when we have independence from ignorance, from ignorance. Only the school gives us this independence. A good school, like 'Jezmi Delli', I am sure will give us independence from ignorance and poverty. Many communities, when they have an academically brilliant child who gets ahead, lifts his family out of poverty. I can't wait for over 300 students who learn here, to have over 300 success stories, and to be proud that we built a super school for chicks and chicks here", he said.

The 45 new schools of Tirana, underlined Veliaj, are 45 centers of knowledge and education, but they also help to increase the value of the property. "When we came here, the school was worse than anything around. Take a look around now. The school is better than everything else around. The chances are that others will start following the school model, they will come to the administrative unit, they will ask to cover the building with a hood, a house will sell more. The school, the quality, the environment, the building has a lot to do with the price of the surrounding properties. A house that has a school nearby, with a reputation and quality in construction, is sold more," said Veliaj.

He said it's worth every hassle as long as the focus is on the future, which is the city's children. "They ask me, is all this trouble worth it, the answer is: Yes, it's worth it! So that we are not ashamed of the generations to come. That this is not work for the next election, it is work for the next generation. In order not to be ashamed for the future generations, we must fight the battles today, win the battles today, finish the work today and pass the baton with honor to the super generation of "Jezmi Delli" chicks and oysters and all of Tirana. We will not stop at 45 new schools, we will build others. We want to build 10 more schools. The "Edit Durham" school will be rebuilt, we are finishing the planning to build the new "Petro Nini Luarasi". Until yesterday, "Xezmi Delli" and other schools were inferior to those of the block, now those of the block seem outdated, because they were built in the 60s-70s, of course with the best that was available at that time of poverty and primitive circumstances. and here we are today, in a situation where the schools of the former block want to be like other schools in the suburbs of Tirana. We put up for procurement the first schools in the "Rilindja" neighborhood, or in the Great Ring. I can't wait until the end of this term, we will have completed more than 50 schools in Tirana and tell the next generation: We did not embarrass you, we kept our word, we carried our promise to the end!", concluded Veliaj.
