In an activity developed by the Spotlight Initiative, Natalie Portman gave a speech on gender roles and how society "packages" girls and boys. Portman also holds the entertainment industry accountable, calling for a change in approach.
"We look at how limited is what is allowed for boys and what is allowed for girls. This needs to be redefined. So boys can be emotional, sensitive, empathetic and still be masculine. On the other hand, girls can also be strong, fierce and to seek what they want in search of their happiness. All these should be part of our industry, to be influenced, because we see how it affects the creation of gender identity," said Natalie Portman.
