Why every politician should plant flowers

Why every politician should plant flowers

Gardening is healing and more than that. What if you don't have a garden? You can deal with the balcony. And if you don't have a balcony, even with a few flower pots to put in the window.

Camilly Dungy, writer, suggests that every person, but especially every politician, should plant, engage with the soil, plants, nature.

Why?

First, what I mean by 'politically engaged person' is anyone with a vested interest in how we treat others and this planet. So the definition of what a 'political person' is is very broad.

There are two reasons I think gardens are important to people who have a vested interest in how we treat other people and this planet. One: gardens are spaces of rejuvenation, regeneration and peace. But also, gardens are places where much is learned about patience, growth, interweaving and surprising displays of beauty. And those who strive to build a more generous, loving, sustainable culture, community, or support plan need examples of patience and beauty.
