Do you exercise in the morning or in the evening? A new study by researchers in Hong Kong has found that morning is the best time to exercise if you're trying to lose weight. More precisely the schedule between 7 and 9 in the morning.
Although the evidence regarding the optimal time of physical activity has been controversial, a new study has found that the beginning of the day appears to be the best time to improve the association between moderate and vigorous daily physical activity and obesity.
The connection was weakest in the afternoon and evening.
People who met the physical activity guidelines in the breakfast group had a lower body mass index and smaller waists than those in the other groups.
Tongyu Ma, one of the authors of the study, said: "Our study provided a new tool to explore the daily pattern of physical activity and investigate its impact on health outcomes."
A total of 5,285 people were included and divided into morning, afternoon and evening exercisers.
Those in the breakfast group (642 people) were 10 to 13 years older than the other two groups.
