An AI-generated Miss has been crowned recently. The winner, Kenza Layli, is a Moroccan influencer with nearly 200,000 followers on Instagram and another 45,000 on TikTok. Layli is completely created by artificial intelligence, from its images to the given speech.
"The title of Miss motivates me even more to continue my work in advancing artificial intelligence technology," said Layli in an AI-powered video. "Artificial intelligence is a transformative force that can challenge norms and create opportunities that did not exist before", she said.
The Miss AI competition was launched in the spring and 1,500 programmers from around the world participated. Layli was created by Myriam Bessa, founder of the Phoenix AI agency.
Experts have also expressed concern about the implications of such a beauty pageant, as AI-generated images could further homogenize beauty standards.
"I think we're starting to lose touch more and more with what an unedited face looks like," said Dr. Kerry McInerney, a researcher at the University of Cambridge.
