Elon Musk writes about OpenAI and CEO-n Sam Altman

Elon Musk has sued OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, claiming they abandoned the company's primary mission to develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity.

In a lawsuit filed Thursday in a San Francisco court, Musk's lawyers said that in 2015 Musk, Altman and OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman agreed to form a nonprofit lab that would develop artificial intelligence to benefit humanity.

Musk stepped down from the board in 2018, four years after saying AI is potentially more dangerous than nuclear weapons.

"Even today, OpenAI's website continues to claim that its mission is to ensure that AI benefits all of humanity. In reality, however, OpenAI has become a subsidiary of the world's largest technology company: Microsoft," the lawsuit states.

Musk's lawyers said in the lawsuit that OpenAI's focus on maximizing profits for Microsoft violated that agreement.
