With the L'Oreal Paris Lights on Women award at this year's Cannes Film Festival, Kate Winslet was once again given the opportunity to step up as a woman.

"What I remember is that when I did 'Titanic' I was shocked and horrified by the insulting comments even from the mainstream media," she adds, referring to her weight at the time.

For Winslet the years have come along with a sense of self-acceptance that allows her to shrug off negativity and embrace all aspects of herself, a feeling further enhanced by her role as a beauty ambassador.

"With L'Oreal Paris and before that with Lancôme, I used my voice for all women," says Winslet.

She has, however, practiced a near-vegan lifestyle by feeding on the eggs produced by her chickens.

"I have a lot of love in my life. I am very lucky. I have an amazing husband, my children are wonderful, I have a very good family,” she says.
