Insomnia increases the risk of stroke

Insomnia increases the risk of stroke
People who suffer from insomnia have a greater risk of stroke, compared to people who do not sleep well, according to a study from the University of Michigan.

Wendemi Sawadogo, head of the research team, pointed out that people with insomnia also have diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and depression, which further increases the risk of stroke.

From 2002 to 2020, Sawadogo and his team looked at people "who had never had a stroke," with 57% of those in the study group being women aged 61.

The study found that the risk of stroke is higher in people with insomnia under the age of 50.

There are many therapies to help improve sleep quality, Sawadogo noted, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and treatment to reduce the risk of future stroke.
