Veliaj: There are adventurers who talk about free planes and trains

In an interview with Neës 24, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, said that free transport is an unrealizable idea.
"You cannot promise to reduce taxes and increase spending at the same time. It's like saying, we will reduce the production of milk, but the production of cheese will increase a lot. That kind of thing doesn't work. Let's make a campaign so that regardless of the result, they don't lose face. I have the impression that some people have decided to lose both the result and the face. I'm here knowing that the results we've had so far, but also the polls, make us the winner on May 14th. On May 15, whoever lied and lost will be forgotten. Those who win must keep their promises," he said.
"Cities that have made transport free are cities that have already subsidized this service in over 90% of it, as was the case of Luxembourg. Other cities, such as Tallinn, that have tried this experiment have failed miserably. You can't say that we won't pay for the cleaning of the city, but we will do the transport for free. In Tallinn, the mayor not only lost the election, but failed and bankrupted the city with such adventures. Tirana tried such adventures once in 2011, it was the adventure of the imaginary tram. For every other adventurer who says that we will make planes and trains free, he reminds us of the tram. I understand that when we are lied to once, it is the fault of the one who lied to us - the Democratic Party and Saliu's dolphin, who at that time was Lulzim Basha - but, if another Saliu dolphin comes with another lie to forget that he is persona non grata and that Tirana can never be governed by a force that has been declared non grata by the USA and Great Britain, then it is our fault if we are lied to by those who know that they will not win the elections, but are in the race to catch what they can catch and tell another lie. I cannot do this and I am prepared to wake up on Monday, May 15 and govern Tirana. This means that I cannot allow myself, for three or four votes, to say such nonsense, which do not happen and have no economic logic, but will not be voted for by the citizens either, especially after they have tasted the taste of the tram. that did not materialize anywhere. Therefore, I want to continue with projects that can be realized", said Veliaj.
