Ditmir Bushati: When Rama invited me, SP looked like ancient Athens, today it looks like Sparta. I didn't leave willingly. I am paying the cost of some stays
Ditmir Bushati, former foreign minister and former right-hand man of Edi Rama, for the first time spoke openly about his departure from active political life. Invited to Grida Duma's Top Story, on Top Channel, Bushati was asked about the issue of Albania's integration into the EU, about the reasons for his absence in political life, in the SP, and the reasons that sidelined the politician and the silence his long. Ditmir Bushati, remembered his approach to Edi Rama and how then the SP resembled ancient Athens, while today it looks like Sparta.
He said no one can deny my convictions as a socialist, my affiliation, and that during the political fasting (that's what he calls his period after leaving) he did not prefer to throw stones at his own political organization)
You can find some paragraphs in the correct lecture from the interview with Grida Duma below:
Bushati: It was not my choice to leave active politics. I have been in a period of political fasting after the 2021 elections. No one can deny either my beliefs or my affiliation as a socialist, trying not to throw stones at the political organization in which I have been in higher positions, maintaining a kind of balance, believing that political parties are public goods.
When I was invited to join by Edi Rama resembled Athens of old, over the years PS resembles Sparta to me more than Ancient Athens, we are realizing that we are living in a more interconnected world. Also because of my family background, Shkodra has been an emotion beyond politics for me, we wanted to have a healthy result, it has been a DP stronghold. There is no accusation from DP. Time proved my attitudes regarding the approach with Shkodra.
