The roads are blocked. Evacuees have abandoned their cars on the road and are walking away to escape the fire. The flames have burned down many houses.
The city of Los Angeles is experiencing extreme weather conditions. The humidity was very low, around 12% when the fire started, and the wind was gusting at around 50 kilometers per hour. A state of emergency has been declared there.

The Palisades Fire, which is closer to the coast and also the largest, has hit the picturesque suburbs where many Hollywood stars have their residences. More than 1,000 buildings have been destroyed so far.

The Eaton Fire grew within the first six hours. It started in Altadena in the hills above Pasadena and has claimed five lives.
The Hurst Fire is located north of San Fernando.

Another fire broke out in Ventura County, northwest of Los Angeles, burning about 11 hectares of land, although it is now under control.
The Lidia Fire broke out in the Acton Mountain area north of Los Angeles and grew to cover almost 350 acres.
The Sunset Fire started in Hollywood Hills, a residential neighborhood overlooking the historic Hollywood area. It currently covers about 50 acres and all residents have been evacuated.
