Former New Zealand leader Jacinda Ardern gets 'Dame' title

Former New Zealand leader Jacinda Ardern, who resigned from her post earlier this year, has received one of the country's highest honours.
New Prime Minister Chris Hipkins paid tribute at the King's Official Birthday Celebration
"Serving as Prime Minister from 2017 to 2023, Dame Jacinda Ardern is recognized for her commitment to New Zealand during some of the greatest challenges our country has faced in modern times," Hipkins said in a statement.
“Udhëheqja e Zelandës së Re ndaj sulmeve terroriste të vitit 2019 dhe ndaj pandemisë Covid-19 përfaqësoi periudha sfidash intensive për kryeministren tonë të 40-të, kohë gjatë së cilës pashë se angazhimi i saj ndaj Zelandës së Re mbeti absolut.”
Hipkins vjen nga e njëjta parti si Ardern, Partia Laburiste, dhe e pasoi atë si udhëheqëse.
Ardernit iu dha titulli Dame Grand Companion i Urdhrit të Meritës së Zelandës së Re.
Në një deklaratë për degën e CNN Radio Zelanda e Re (RNZ), Ardern tha se ndihej "jashtëzakonisht e përulur" nga vlerësimi.
“Isha me dy mendje për ta pranuar këtë titull,” tha ajo. “Shumë nga gjërat që kaluam si komb gjatë pesë viteve të fundit kishin të bënin me të gjithë ne dhe jo me një individ.
"I have heard the gratitude from many people over the years. And so for me this is a way of saying thank you – to my family, my colleagues and the people who supported me to take on the most challenging and rewarding role of my life.”
