The German Ministry of Defense with a draft law is laying the foundations for the introduction of a new military service in Germany.
The new legislation was approved by the Cabinet today and will be considered in the Bundesrat and Bundestag early next year
Under the new system, men will have to fill out a digital questionnaire when they turn 18, while women will have the option to choose it voluntarily.
The Bundeswehr will select the best and most motivated candidates, who will perform military service for a period of six to 23 months.
