Going to jail just for donating $51.80.

This is the story of Ksenia Karelina, the Russian ballerina with American citizenship.

She donated only $51 to charity for Ukraine while in America and as soon as she stepped foot in Russia to meet her grandparents, she was arrested.

Accusation?

National treason.

The story was made public to the media by her boyfriend Chris Van Heerden, who says with tears in his eyes: They will return it to me. It is not clear how the donation was made, nor how Russia discovered it. Most likely, the donation may have been made at the workplace.

Karelina, who became a US citizen in 2021, entered Russia on January 2, but the US was notified of her arrest on February 8. So a month later.

Her work has also come out with a notice expressing regret for her arrest.
