Borrell: We are on the brink of a regional war in the Middle East

EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell warned that the Middle East is on the brink of a regional war.

Borrell made the remarks from Capri in Italy, where G7 foreign ministers met to discuss the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.

"The humanitarian disaster continues," he said. "Humanitarian support has increased, but it is very, very insufficient. We must ask Israel for a restrained response to the Iranian attack. We cannot have escalation", said Borrell.

"I don't want to exaggerate, but we are on the verge of a war, a regional war in the Middle East, which will send shock waves to the rest of the world, and in particular to Europe. So stop it", underlined Borrell.
