Veliaj "Honorary Citizen" of Gostivar
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, was honored yesterday with the title of "Honorary Citizen" by the municipality of Gostivar.
The title was presented to him by the mayor of the Municipality of Gostivar, Arben Taravari.
"I very humbly accept the title of "Honorary Citizen of Gostivar" because I want, in addition to my stone in Tirana, to contribute to the construction of this world that is being built here, in Gostivar. I am really proud of the work you have done and I congratulate you, the Mayor of the Municipality, but also those who have placed their stone in this extraordinary community of Gostivar. Gostivari is truly a model example, not only as one of the best-managed municipalities in this region, but also as a space that has shown us that: Yes, coexistence is possible. Religious coexistence is possible, ethnic coexistence is possible", said Veliaj.
"I am very proud of the extraordinary work that the Union does! At first we thought it would be prejudiced and it was prejudiced as a nationalist topic, but in the meantime we meet and talk about bike lanes, cleaning up our cities, or who has planted the most trees per inhabitant. We are not all the same party, we do not all speak the same language, we are not all the same ethnicity, we do not all believe in the same religion, but there is an invisible thread that connects us all in our lives. Therefore, I strongly hope that today's meeting and this commitment of mine, to make this contribution to the construction of Gostivar, will turn into a motive for each of us, where each of us asks ourselves the question: What did I do today for my city , for my country and for my society?", said Veliaj.
The head of the Municipality of Tirana said that good neighborliness is important in the cooperation between the two countries. "The fact that we have a war in Europe, between two neighboring countries, means that we must value the neighborhood. Neighborhood must be built day by day, stone by stone, to have a great relationship. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this hospitality and good neighborliness. I really want Tirana to be an open house for Gostivar. In Tirana, we have invested a lot in education and knowledge. We have completed a package of 43 new schools, which will take it to 50 very soon. Schools like Pyramid are spaces where we want to learn the languages ??of the jobs of the future. I really want such spaces to be open for talented children from Gostivari", he emphasized.
The Mayor of Gostivar, Arben Taravari, thanked the mayor of Tirana for the special work and dedication he has done for Gostivar. "When you think of Tirana, the most dynamic capital in the Balkans automatically comes to mind. He has undoubtedly turned Tirana into the European Capital, for which there is no Albanian who is not proud. He is so devoted to his work, that if he decides to work outside the official Albanian territory, I propose him with all my will to run for the mayor of Gostivar", said Taravari.
