Musk: To change the world, 40 hours a week is not enough, you need twice as much

Elon Musk has expressed through a post on Twitter that people should work at least 80 hours a week to change the world.

"There are many ways of working, but no one has changed the world by working only 40 hours a week," Musk said, referring to the four companies Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company and Neuralink where he is CEO.

Asked by a Twitter user about the number of hours a person needs to work each week in order to "change the world," Musk responded by saying that the ideal starts with 80 hours.

"It also depends on the person, but 80 can be enough," he says.

Musk said in an interview in November that he was working 120-hour weeks, while everyone at Tesla had been working 100-hour weeks at times this year as Tesla ramped up production of its Model 3 sedan. He said the hours of long were necessary for Tesla to survive. But some employees said the long hours are excessive.
