Tourists who are visiting the country in high numbers, Kumbaro inspects the work at the border points
The start of the summer tourist season has brought an increase in the flow of visitors through the border points. For this reason, the Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro has started a tour of inspections through these points, to see closely the work for welcoming visitors and avoiding queues at the border.
Accompanied by the General Director of Customs, Gent Gazheli, Minister Kumbaro started the inspection from the Qafë-Bota border point, where investments have recently been made in terms of improving the reception conditions for visitors entering Albania. Further, the inspections will continue in Kakavijë, in the Port of Durrës, continuing in all the customs points where there are the most increased flows of tourists.
"The numbers practically turn out to be much higher than last year. Measures have been taken so that everything goes well, there is a coordination between the border police, the Ministry of Tourism and the Environment as well as the Customs Directorate in order to avoid any kind of unpleasant episode. It is part of the business card and part of the hospitality of Albanian tourism", said Kumbaro.
The General Director of Customs, Gent Gazheli, said that the customs administration has taken appropriate measures to cope with tourist flows, which are expected to be higher than last year.
For 2022, 108,000 foreign visitors have entered through the border point of Qafë Bota. During the months of January-April 2023, about 1.7 million foreign visitors entered Albania, or 57% more than the same period last year.
