Llogara tunnel ready to open in summer! This season no fee will be applied

About 88% of the works have been completed in the Llogara tunnel. The work on the concreting of the main tunnel along its entire length has been completed, while the work on the other details that are part of this project is ongoing.

These are the last stages of the works to start laying the asphalt layers, while work is also being done on the installation of the electromechanical system and the lighting system. Also, parallel work is being done on the construction of the tunnel monitoring center.

The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, closely followed the works in this work, which is expected to be ready and open for the circulation of vehicles at the start of the summer tourist season of this year.

Minister Balluku emphasized that there is a maximum commitment to finish all the works within the foreseen capacity, so that this work, which significantly shortens the travel time to the south coast, is available to the citizens. Balluku said that after the end of the summer season, when the flow of traffic towards the coast decreases, the works will resume in the tunnel until the complete completion of the work.

"The Llogara tunnel will be opened for vehicle access, of course with some safety conditions as we will need to continue the work in October. When the flow is finished, it will be closed again, just as we have done with Orikum-Dukat, just as we have done with the Vlora bypass, so that we have them available for passage during the summer, but we close them in October to given the opportunity to complete all the details, especially those of the parameters inside the emergency tunnel", said Balluku.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy emphasized that this season no fee will be applied for the vehicles that will pass through the tunnel.

"Until October they will work normally, we will have some restrictions in terms of speed or everything else. The police will be in constant monitoring, at the entrance and exit of the tunnel. This year no tunnel fee will be applied as the entire construction site must be completed and is expected to continue in the coming years. The application of the fee will be after 2025 when this is delivered as a complete tunnel together with the emergency tunnel. This year, it will be accessible under the monitoring of the traffic police, but with full safety parameters", said Balluku.
