Rama promised a salary increase, Celibashi: The code prohibits it only before

The head of CEC Ilirjan Celibashi has spoken about the statement of Prime Minister Rama on the salary increase. The statement was considered by the opposition as an election promise and contrary to the Electoral Code. Meanwhile, Celibashi clarifies that there is no violation in this case, as the Code provides for such rules only in the case of General Elections.

"If we evaluate the components that went into this decision-making, when it was made 4 months ago and was foreseen in the budget, it is not a violation of the electoral code. In general, the electoral code has prohibitions for certain decision-making only in the period 4 months before.

One thing I want to emphasize, the Electoral Code has prohibitions related only to general elections. I don't know why the code only provided for the case of parliamentary elections. I have no reason to comment on the Prime Minister's statement on the Electoral Code either. If something is stipulated in law, it is law. As long as an adjustment is part of the law, it will be strict," said Celibashi.
