The remission of fines for constructions without permission causes a clash between the government and the opposition
The Socialist Party proposed in the plenary session today a law for waiving fines for constructions without permission in rural areas.
The proposal caused fierce debates in the Assembly, as the opposition pointed out that it was not previously aware of this initiative.
The General Secretary of the DP, Flamur Noka, accused the majority that, after imprisoning 38 thousand Albanians for the construction of a yard, they are now forgiving the fines due to the closeness to the elections.
The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, responded by emphasizing that the majority has the necessary numbers and will pass the law on pardoning fines, regardless of the objections of the opposition.
"The question is simple: Do you agree that this Parliament should cancel the fines that have not been executed over the years? We as a majority have the numbers and will cancel these fines. This Parliament is well within its rights to overrule them and we will do so. When you come, cancel it. This Parliament, within this parliamentary session, will pass the law and cancel the fines," said Manja.
