Dua Lipa: All those words about Albanian immigrants, of course it hurts!
Dua Lipa has responded to the rhetoric and policies bordering on racism that are being made with Albanian immigrants in Great Britain.
As an Albanian who immigrated to London herself many years ago, today one of the most successful artists in the world, the singer spoke at length about the "topic of the day" today in England, in an interview for the Sunday Times.
This is how Dua Lipa commented on the statements of the Secretary of the Interior, Suella Braverman, who labeled Albanian immigrants as criminals:
"Of course it hurts. All that talk about immigrants? I always thought London was a melting pot of cultures. When you hear the government talking about Albanians, for example, it hurts. It's short-sighted, but it's the way many people think. No matter how we try to change the rhetoric, there will always be those who think, 'immigrants are coming to take our jobs.'
She called for more empathy towards immigrants. "Those who have come here have earned their money by working extremely hard. There should be more sensitivity, because people don't leave their country if they don't have to."
