The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, during her visit to Baku, held meetings with high personalities of tourism and the environment under the framework of sustainable development and green finance.

Azerbaijan will be the host country of the World Climate Summit COP29 this year, under the theme "Green Finance". In the meeting with the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, Minister Kumbaro announced that Albania is working to present the National Climate Contribution to the secretariat of the Convention. The two ministers also agreed on opportunities for cooperation in sustainable tourism models through protected areas and cultural heritage.

"Very pleased with the meeting with the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, who will host this year the COP29 World Climate Summit on the topic of "Green Finance" and where Albania is preparing for the presentation of the National Climate Contribution to the Convention's secretariat" , said the Minister of Tourism and Environment.

Further, Minister Kumbaro met with Fuad Naghiyev, Head of the National Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, where they discussed opportunities to advance cooperation in the field of tourism that we decided during the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between our two countries.

3190 visitors from Azerbaijan visited our country during 2023, or 130% more than 2022, figures that show us the potential in the Azerbaijani market through the presentation of the Albanian tourist offer.

The Minister of Tourism and Environment is in Azerbaijan within the framework of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for Economic Cooperation between Albania and Azerbaijan.
