Voltana Ademi to lead Municipality of Shkodra with socialist majority municipal council

Following the resignation of newly elected Mayor of Shkodra, Valdrin Pjetri from his post, it has been announced that former Mayor Voltana Ademi will continue to lead the Municipality of Shkodra with a socialist majority Municipal Council. The venue of constitution of the municipal council, has sparked debate in recent days, as it has been announced that the event will not take place in the premises of the Luigj Gurakuqi University, but at the University Library of Shkodra. This change, follows the announcement of the Democratic Party in Shkoder for a protest in the early days of September, with the party headquarters requesting from the University of Luigj Gurakuqi Rector to ‘ maintain the political impartiality of the institution’. This is the second change that has been announced in regard to the constitution of the Shkodra municipal council. Initially, the date was set for the 21st of August, a day after the mandate of then Mayor Voltana Ademi was to legally expire. But the SP, set the constitution date two days prior, a decision that came after newly elected Mayor, Valdrin Peter was to resume the post. Pjetri is alleged to have been convicted in Italy of drug trafficking in 2003, but failed to declare the event on the self-declaration form. Tiranapost.al
