Socialist Party candidate for the Mayor’s office in Tirana met with the Unit 3 residents. During the meeting the current mayor illustrated an article of Washington Post to bear comparisons between the reality in Afghanistan and the situation that the opposition has created in Albania.
“Throughout the country there are 2500 candidatures for the mayoral position, and the elections will be held regardless to the violence and the threats that are coming from the groups of these parties. Some municipalities are still under the govern of the said parties, and they are using their power to intimidate the citizens so that they won’t vote. What I just read is just a part of an article published by Washington Post describing Taliban parties. If I hadn’t said that you would have thought I was talking about Albania and the opposing parties”, stated Veliaj.
The current Mayor said that just as Taliban forces are acting in Afghanistan, DP and SMI is doing the same by intimidating the voters and challenging the American influence in various democratising processes.
“The only place in the whole world where political forces are threatening with violence the elections, just so that they can annul the process and intimidate the electors, is Taliban, the second one is Albania with what the opposition is doing”, stated Veliaj.
Then the underlined the fact that it’s sad that “a political party is using the same language that Taliban is using, and same as them, our opposition is afraid of the U.S. influence”./Tiranapost/D.D
