    The local elections: The Ministry of Internal Affairs publishes the voters list


    The Ministry of Internal Affairs just published the voters list for the new local elections that will be held on 30 June. From the data generated by the General Directorate of Civil Status, 3.536.015 Albanian citizens have the right to vote, on their midst 132.788 citizens will vote for the first time; 51% of the voters are male and 49% are female. The final voters list has had improvements in regard of the last elections, as for the local elections of 2015 as the presidential elections of 2017.

    For the first time it was possible to be found the rightful addresses of 285 thousand voters, whom in the place of their valid address had registered codes such as: 999, 888 and 000. On the updated list it was removed, in according to the “Decriminalisation” law, the duplications and the voters that were older than 100 years old, as well as the names of the persons that are incarcerated and are taking their sentence to term. The ministry of Internal Affairs underlined that the whole process was carried out under the supervision of the technical audits from the Central Election Commission, that were cleared to have full access.

    The process started after the President’s signed approval; the decree nr. 10928, date 05/11/2018, “For the date setting regarding the local elections”. Then it was drafted and sanctioned the Instruction nr.295/1, date 06/11/2018 “For the drafting procedures regarding the voters list for the local elections”.

    The final list concludes the drafting process and allows this institution to publish the Voters List. GDCS, as it has done until now, will fulfil every legal obligation that derives from the Electoral Code, regarding the preparation of the electoral infrastructure./Tiranapost/D.D
