    Russian Comedians unsettle the Balkans


    Two Russian comedians have made waves recently in the Albanian, Kosovo and Macedonian media, by acting as high officials and calling the North Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and Kosovo Prime Minister Haradinaj. In regard to Zaev, the latter has also mentioned the Kosovo-Serbia borders issue, but claims that only discussion that have already been heard and read in the media. After the news, Zaev, called President Hashim Thaci, with whom he had a conversation lasting 20 minutes.

    At a Press Conference on Thursday, Thaci stated that Zaev called him to clarify the situation in regard to the fake call from the Russian comedians, and wiretaps published, although a video featuring Zaev has yet to be published. Thaci stated for Klan Kosova: ” Last night I called The North Macedonia Zoran Zaev, and we talked for about 20 minutes. He called me as president of the Republic of Kosovo to clarify in regard to the conversation he had on the phone with the people who called him.”

    “He [Zoran Zaev] has told me that the circumstances were such as he had fallen prey to fraud and all that was spoken about Kosovo municipalities to be given to Serbia are based on misinformation and lies of the Sputnik newspaper and Russian rumors . At the same time, Zoran Zaev said that what he talked about with the con men are un-grounded things in relation to Kosovo and that at the same time there is no official information from anyone about what he has said. They are local and international gossip, that, according to him, (Zoran Zaev) have fallen prey to Russian misinformation.
