PM Rama ‘cuts ties’ with Shkodra Mayor Valdrin Pjetri

PM Edi Rama took to twitter on Tuesday to react, following a long week of accusations in the case of newly elected mayor of Shkodra, Valdrin Pjetri, who the DP alleges has been hiding a past as a drug trafficker, and an arrest in Italy in 2003.

“Not even if it was my brother, would there be a chance of SP and myself, to allow to cast doubt, in relation to the law and loyalty to the people! Responsibility for each single unworthy act is individual. Our responsibility is how we respond to an unworthy individual act! I have never thought that Valdrin can hide the truth in relation to the law, but until the legal truth comes out, Valdrin Pjetri and the Socialist Party are going their separate ways. And on this occasion, everyone should understand that I do not intend to tolerate anyone, nor to take on an individual relationship with anyone’s law! I fight for every idea, goal or brother in arms, but costs of individual suspicious acts, such as this one, i will not take upon me, and will not allow the SP to take upon itself! ”.

Documents were released by the SHQUP office today, that show that Pjetri was arrested in Italy for drug trafficking, sentenced to 18 months in prison, but after co-operation, the sentence was suspended and the deportation measures came into force.

“I stated my truth before the candidacy and a few days ago via official documents. The only truth is what comes out of the offices of law enforcement agencies and not those of the DP. I look forward to the decision to complete the image verification process by the Albanian and Italian official authorities, ” writes Pjetri on Facebook. Tiranapost.al
