Municipality of Tirana to provide 1 million USD for first phase of post earthquake emergencies

The Municipality of Tirana will provide $ 1 million for the first phase of emergencies to overcome all the consequences left by earthquakes. While personally contributing to those affected at the aid stations specifically set up by the Municipality of Tirana near the “Skanderbeg” square, where anyone can donate clothes or food, Mayor Veliaj stated that all measures were taken to manage this situation. In addition to the City Council meeting and the Emergency Staff meeting, there will also be a special meeting with all administrators in regard to the organizational plan to better manage the aftermath of the earthquakes. Mayor Veliaj called on citizens to contact their administrators for any necessity they may have, while expressing the City’s willingness to support all those in need.
“I want every citizen to contact with their administrators. The administrator will draft an inventory, through which we will figure out who needs physical intervention, who needs food and clothing, who then needs psychological help. We will engage all the psycho-social staff of kindergartens and schools of Tirana ”, underlined Veliaj. The latter also praised the contribution of hundreds of citizens who responded immediately to the mayor’s call to donate clothing and food to people affected by the earthquake. The mayor said all working groups have been in the field all night helping people in need./ Tiranapost.al.
