Meta’s decision/German delegation: Continue with elections as defined in the constitution

Josip Juratovic, a member of the Bundestag and part of the German delegation who arrived in Albania in a tour, which will continue in other countries of the region as well, to see the progress of the countries regarding the reforms, was asked at the press conference on the decision of President Meta on the cancellation of the election date and the opposition’s actions.
Juratovic focused on the Constitution and the right to elect.
Juratovic: I do not consider it a responsibility to answer on domestic policy issues. During yesterday and today’s visit, I have understood and say that this country has a Constitution and the Constitution is the foundation of a state.
In Germany it is how we do things. The Constitution is the foundation and therefore the belief lies on what the Constitution establishes. If the constitution foresees elections to be held at a certain point of time, then it should be held in this time-frame. If it determines postponement, postpone them. This can also be decided by elected representatives, based on the Constitution.
The idea I have about the situation, is that, i think that elections are also a political solution. Each party has the right to take part in this process, it will be the voters who decide on what is good and what is wrong. I think the voters in Albania, are well informed in regard to what they say and do . Elections in democracy are competition between the parties, it is the way of the process of democratization.Whether this is a political crisis or not, the future will show, however the current situation will affect the EC’s decision. And since most countries are deciding to open negotiations, we need to have many debates to persuade these countries that Albania is an integral part of Europe. / Tiranapost.al. D.Xh
