All those Tirana families affected by the earthquake on Saturday are being contacted by Tirana Municipality teams on site and administrative units to provide assistance and verify the damage caused. The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj assembled the Tirana Civil Emergency personnel on Sunday, where the relevant directories reported on the situation following Saturday’s devastating earthquake. Reports stated that the situation appears stabilized, while all residents and families who have had health problems or injuries in their homes have received first aid from special municipal structures. Mayor Veliaj urged relevant municipal structures to stay in contact with anyone affected by the earthquake and provide them with the necessary assistance so that no one is left alone in these moments. Veliaj called on all administrative units throughout Tirana to stay open to receive any concerns from residents but also to contact all families affected by the earthquake.
“I want the administrative units not to be closed today. As IGJEUM has confirmed there are lighter shocks after a major earthquake, but for anyone going to the administrative centers, someone has to help and serve people. Then the administrator and the evaluation team should have their reports ready, with photos and files. We need to be rigorous in time, and procedures. ” said Veliaj.
Veliaj added that in addition to social centers, the Municipality of Tirana will open student dormitories for all families in need of long-term housing. While for all children attending Tirana schools and experiencing yesterday’s panic, Veliaj announced that a special worker will be placed at each school to communicate with them. Veliaj asked administrators and principals to do the latest verifications at all educational institutions if they are ready for school on Monday. Tiranapost.al
