The fourth edition of the Tirana Marathon returns this Sunday, not only as a sports competition but also as an opportunity to have fun and keep your body in shape. This year’s marathon, organized by the Municipality of Tirana will be a complete innovation, both in terms of organization and the itinerary that will allow athletes from over 42 different countries to participate. The race is organized into two categories: Tirana 10Km and Half Marathon 21 Km, which will cross almost the same route.
Unlike last year’s starting point, this time it will be from “Skanderbeg” Square and then runners of both categories will cross the Str. “Ded Gjo Luli” – Str. “Kavaja” – Str. “Ibrahim Rugova” – “Lasgush Poradeci” – Bike Lake at Lake Park – Str. “Lek Dukagjini” – “Mother Teresa” Square – “Deshmoret e Kombi” Boulevard – Str. “Gjergj Filipi” – Str. “Pope John Paul II” – “Bajram Curri” Boulevard – Str. “George W. Bush” – Str. “Abdi Toptani” reaching the finish line again at “Skanderbeg Square”.
The Tirana 10Km category will only cross this route once, while the 21km Half Marathon will cross twice, plus 1,000m more on the Kavaja route. In order to organize and maintain the largest sport activity in our country, the Municipality of Tirana, in cooperation with the State Police, has drafted a plan of measures to organize the movement of vehicles during the marathon. From Saturday afternoon to Sunday at noon there will be a restriction of vehicle traffic in some road segments, where the marathon route will pass. This year there are runners from 42 countries around the world, ranging from distant Australia and the Philippines, to the United States and Brazil. There are 24 contestants from the US alone. Competitors from Serbia, Macedonia, Greece and Montenegro, stand out, thus showing that Tirana Marathon has become one of the most important sporting events in the Balkans. Tiranapost.al
