The home of Albania’s renowned novelist and poet, Ismail Kadare, will soon be transformed into a museum honoring the writer’s life and work. Following a decision approved by the Municipality Council, Municipality of Tirana in cooperation with the distinguished architect Elisabeta Terragni has restored the entire apartment located in Tirana and transformed it into a museum available to visit for tourists and locals.
Mayor Veliaj visited the house and welcomed the decision
“This museum will attract more tourists. Ismail Kadare is the most distinguished “Made in Albania” brand. This museum will be another attraction in Tirana besides the Square, the Lake, the new Bazaar and the Gallery. I feel good about opening the museum in just few days,” Veliaj said. The museum will present a part of history and culture as well as the way the writer lived during Communism. The museum will expose original materials, documents, books, furniture, souvenirs as well as a reading corner
The Municipality also plans to turn the house of writer Dritero Agolli into a museum. The apartment is located in a very famous building that before the 90’s was known as the ‘palace of cubes’ which carries its own history.
