Since Monday, the CEC Chairman Klement Zguri, when he abandoned the meeting after the President signed the decree, he has been absent. But these occurrences didn’t go unnoticed by the media, that are suspecting that the Chairman is near his resignation. They argue that his decision might come after Mr. Zguri made it known that he supports the President’s degree and commented that the annulment of the elections should be carried out.
But, on the other side the three members and the deputy chairman, underlined the fact that the President’s decree was violating the Albanian Constitution, that’s why they voted to continue with the set date. Mr. Zguri was absent even on today’s meeting, where the candidates for the Voting Centre Commissions were appointed and the authorisation for the change of some of the voting centres’ location.
Mr. Zguri was appointed to the duty of CEC Chairman in 2017, and if he decides to resign the decisions of this institution will have to be approved by the Electoral College. Because the law predicts that the verdict are considered valid if at least five members vote pro./Tiranapost/D.D
