EU negotiations, Bregu explains how the current political crisis has affected the process

The General Secretary of the Regional Cooperation Council, Majlinda Bregu stated that the current political crisis in Albania has aggravated gravely the negotiation process. During her interview at “The Invited” (I Ftuari) with Endri Xhafo from the A2 CNN, Mrs. Bregu said that Albania has had a positive feedback regarding the implementation of the Juridical Reform.

“I’ve always said it that in my opinion June would have been a tight fit with all that was happening with the EU elections, Brexit…. The likelihood of it happening was small regarding the difficult situation that Europe is currently in. I strongly believe that the opening of the negotiation’s process for Albania and North Macedonia, if until now thee where only ten countries that were opposed to the idea and we wouldn’t have taken them into account, now, in this situation, it is a necessity. Albania has had a positive feedback regarding the implementation of the Juridical Reform. It still is one of the hardest reforms to implement for our country, and we deserved the validation we received. But, the current political situation of Albania is aggravating its chances gravely”, said Mrs. Bregu.

She then added that: “We are delivering the image that Albania isn’t capable of resolving its political conflicts internally, without getting to the limit or asking for foreign intervention”./Tiranapost/D.D
