The Electoral Reform round-table is set to be held today by co-chairs Damian Gjiknuri and Rudina Hajdari. While the parliamentary opposition will reportedly be present, on Wednesday, the Democratic party refused Gjiknuri’s invitation to attend, stating, “we stand by the statement we made at the OSCE conference. Our plan is on the table. We urge the government to take a stand in regard to the five points of the proposal ”.
Shortly before the start of the meeting, Damian Gjiknuri stated for the media that ‘the DP has not submitted any plan to the Electoral Reform Committee”.
The non-parliamentary opposition proposed that the process be led by a structure composed of representatives of international bodies (OSCE / ODIHR, EU, US, etc.). However, both the OSCE and the EU said that they will not interfere in the process, as the responsibility belongs to the Albanian political parties./Tiranapost.al
