Following a meeting with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg on Tuesday, the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha stated for reporters that the country’s main obstacle today is Prime Minister Edi Rama. According to Basha, the head of government is showing no willingness to overcome the political stalemate, adding that the path Edi Rama has chosen is the wrong one and does not serve the European future of the country.
Basha also stated that he had shared this concern with Austrian Foreign Minister Schallenberg during the meeting at Rogner Hotel in Tirana: “We talked about the process of support for the negotiations, we also shared the concern in regard to the position of many European factors in terms of the distrust created by the Albanian government by failing to fulfilling the criteria. However, I assured the minister that we are determined to overcome this serious political crisis and the issues caused by the politics and governance as the main obstacles of negotiations”.
