The Eu Council has released a short statement after the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of EU, where one of the topics that were discussed was the accession negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia.
On the press release it was stated that: “The European Commission reports that the Albanian government has fulfilled the conditions. The Council will make its decision on October. We will be strict, but fair”.
On the released report, it is said that the EU Council will revert to the issue of the accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia with a view to reaching a clear and substantive decision as soon as possible and no later than October.
“Reaffirming its conclusions of 26 June 2018, the Council takes good note of the Commission’s recommendation to open accession negotiations with Albania based on its positive evaluation of the progress made and of the fulfillment of the conditions identified by the Council. In light of the limited time available and the importance of the matter, the Council will revert to the issue with a view to reaching a clear and substantive decision as soon as possible and no later than October 2019.”/Tiranapost/D.D
