Anti-defamation bill is ready!  Rama: We can no longer be targeted by those who slander and enter our homes.

Online media has become a playground for defamation, fake news and libel. The main purpose is to receive more clicks while in many cases online media is used to cause damage and intimidate certain people. The phenomenon is on the rise. Under the veil of anonymity, portals whose ownership and staff is unknown , Albania’s online space is full of fake news. Prime Minister Edi Rama addressed the issue in parliament and announced that the anti- defamation bill will soon be signed into law. He said that the circle of those people who have transformed media into a muddy place will be closed.

“The anti-defamation law will be here soon. We can no longer accept being targeted by everyone who does scurrilous writings, defames, enters our homes to slaughter children and adults in the name of freedom. We have vowed to work together with OSCE in compiling such a draft. We will demand tougher measures against those who have turned media into scum and make it impossible for people to know who is giving the right information, who is defaming, who is serving the public and who is sucking on the blood of the entire public opinion,” Rama said. /Tiranapost/D.U
