In an interview with Top Channel envoy in Pristina, Muhamed Veliu, the newly elected prime minister of Kosovo, and leader of Vetevendosja movement Albin Kurti stated that dialogue with Serbia will start with the Kosovo Serbs. He said that he will set up a negotiating team with the opposition, which he will lead himself.
“We will not abolish the tax, but replace it with the principle of reciprocity, so the tax has never been a Vetevendosje policy. I believe that the criterion of sound bilateral interstate relations is reciprocity. Serbia does not accept neither production certificates nor registration plates from the Republic of Kosovo among, other things, and this is intolerable.
I believe for all of us and certainly for our future governance, as far as dialogue with Serbia is concerned, as early as the first week as prime minister, I will begin a dialogue with Kosovo Serbs, a dialogue for development and integration, not for reconciliation.
Moreover, in the first month I will establish contacts with Mr. Borrel, Mogherini’s successor, who is responsible for EU foreign policy and security, and start a dialogue with Brussels on dialogue with Serbia. We will also review the 33 agreements signed with Serbia from 2011 to 2017.
I will also set up a negotiating team with the opposition, lead the negotiating team myself and add demands to Serbia. I am convinced that the future dialogue will be much more solid and transparent”, said Kurti for Top Channel. Tiranapost.al
